Spark Community Space had a most warm and fantastic ribbon cutting opening ceremony today at their new home part of The Pompey Centre, at Unit 12 to be precise!
What a fabulous community space, well done Rebecca Simmons on achieving this, and all the wonderful volunteers that have put in their time, efforts and hard graft in this welcoming space. We have the pleasure of having met Becki through networking events and hearing about her story. We provided some lease advice initially and this was followed by a RICS Valuation to help them comply with the Charities Act, to ensure they were renting the unit at the best value they could achieve.
The immense power of connections both business and personal that have come together to support this charity and it’s patrons. We have then followed the progress and behind the scenes in bringing this place to the welcoming hub it is now. The tireless volunteers decorating, furnishing and bringing all the components together.
So many people came on the opening to support and shout about Becki and her drive in creating a place for people who have lost their spark and need a place to be less lonely. There were over 200 visitors there to celebrate the opening, to share the joy and to support Becki and her dream. The patrons that need SPARK, who used to collect together at Southsea Library, now have this hub to meet and feel rejuvenated by the people around them.
Well done to all the businesses and people who have supported or sponsored this and lovely to see Charlotte again with her Wild Jewellery, beautiful pieces supporting the event too. There has been much fundraising, sponsorship and engagement, long may it continue.
If you know someone that may benefit from this place, share. If you would like to support Spark, engage with them and spread the word.
We’re pleased to see this finally come to fruition after so much determination and hard work by Becki and her team of allies. Visit the Community Space, or find out more by clicking the link above (opening words)
